Why Does Grace Church Have Members?
The Bible uses the metaphor of a body to describe the church:
For just as the body is one and has many members, and all the members of the body, though many, are one body, so it is with Christ
1 Cor. 12:12
Officially joining a local body is a way for us to tangibly express our commitment to live and minister as a member of the body of Christ.
How Do I Become a Member?
Step 1: Attend the Membership Matters Class
This 6-week class is offered 2-3 times a year during the Sunday school hour (see the calendar to find the next one or email us). It provides an opportunity to learn more about Grace Church’s beliefs and practices. Attending this class does not obligate you to join the church.
Step 2: Complete the “Membership Information Sheet” & Sign the “Statement of Faith” and “Member Commitments”
The information sheet, which you’ll get at the first Membership Matters class, provides us with basic information about you. The statement of faith and member commitments contain the basics of our beliefs and practice.
Step 3: Meet with one of the pastor/elders
This informal meeting is an opportunity for one of our leaders to hear your testimony and for you to ask them any questions you have.
Step 4: Be introduced to the congregation as a new member
After you have completed all the steps to membership, we will coordinate with you a Sunday in which you will be brought before the church at the end of a worship service to be introduced to the congregation.
