Biblical Elements of Corporate Worship
We are commanded by God to worship him, but does it really matter how we do it? Pastor Doug Link tells us that God does indeed care about how we do it and his Word tells us what is acceptable and pleasing to him.
The Folly of Worldly Wisdom
1 Corinthians 3:18-23 Since early in this letter, Paul has been addressing the problem of disunity within the church. In this passage, he examines the threat of human wisdom that was contributing to that problem. Pastor Rod Bunton shows us how, especially today, we have become foolishly confident in our ability to solve problems, relying on our own solutions that separate us instead of becoming unified by diving deeper into Christ and His word.
The Day of Rewards
1 Corinthians 3:13-17, 2 Corinthians 5:6-10 In a conclusion to this passage, Paul taught the Corinthian church that their work on earth, revealed by fire, would result in rewards for some believers. Pastor Rod Bunton dives deeper into that day, called the Judgment Seat of Christ, in which the Lord will judge believers.
Revealed by Fire
1 Corinthians 3:10-13 The teaching in the Corinthian church had become influenced by culture and showed evidence of fearing man more than God. Pastor Rod Bunton explains how Paul likened this to building with wood, hay, and straw which will be consumed when tested by fire.
Preserving the Foundation
1 Corinthians 3:10-12 When Paul started the church at Corinth, he built it on a doctrinal foundation based on Christ. Pastor Rod Bunton reinforces Paul’s warning to carefully watch the teaching so that the foundation does not change.
God Gives the Growth
1 Corinthians 3:4-7 Another sign of disunity that Paul saw in the Corinthian church was that some members were elevating various speakers teaching God’s word over the message itself. Pastor Rod Bunton reminds us that all teachers and preachers of the gospel are merely instruments in God’s hand.
Maturing in Christ
1 Corinthians 3:1-3 One of the issues affecting the church in Corinth was that some believers weren’t growing to become more like Christ. Pastor Rod Bunton returns to 1 Corinthians to look at what it means for Christians to mature.
Revive Us That We May Rejoice in You
Psalm 85 What is revival? Pastor Ben Khazraee examines the words of the psalmist to learn what it is, why it’s necessary, and what it brings.
Humble Confidence in God
1 Peter 5:5b-11 Peter strengthens his brothers and sisters in Christ when he exhorts them to be humble toward each other under the mighty hand of God. Pastor Doug Link teaches that this humility is a Christian’s responsibility made possible through faith in the one who has dominion over all things forever and ever.
The Joy of Citizenship in God’s City
Psalm 87 Psalm 87 only has seven verses but it has a big theme. Pastor Ben Khazraee shows how the theme of this psalm, about God’s people in God’s place with God’s presence, is developed throughout the entire Bible.
He Will Hold Me Fast
If you are a confessed believer, resting in your eternal salvation with God, how can you be sure that you won’t lose that gift? Pastor Doug Link takes us on a journey through the Bible, landing in Jude to find the answer.
From the Depths of Guilt to the Heights of Grace: The Assurance of Forgiveness
Psalm 130 How foolish we are when we don’t recognize when we are in need of forgiveness! Pastor Ben Khazraee explores Psalm 130 to discover our desperate need and the source of plentiful redemption.
